Moura 3D Seismic

DSS complete many 3D seismic projects each year. The latest of these was a 3D project in the Moura area, Queensland. More than 29000 stations were installed in about 40 days in a 40km2 area for Vale Australia and Terrex Seismic Pty Ltd. DSS used their latest real-time GPS software package to install all stations.

In a mining area such as Moura, there are many physical constraints such as high-pressure gas pipelines, overhead high-voltage cables and property owner contraints concerning the spread of noxious weeds. DSS were able to survey and create a mini-GIS system which showed ares of protected vegetation, safe working distances from pipelines and buffering areas from dams to enable the placement of the 12500 shot points for the seismic survey.
